We launched our Environmental Policy to help shape a much-needed change in the way in which event organisers and attendees address environmental issues associated with mass-participation events.
As part of our strategy, we will be trialling multiple hydration solutions to supply runners with water and urge runners to consider how they can carry their own water during the race. Here is what you can expect on the course…
Water Station 1 (3 miles)
This is the ONLY station that will be handing out sport-cap water bottles (330ml), which will help contribute to our aim of reducing the number of plastic bottles by 10,000+.
PLEASE hold on to your water bottle until it is empty because it is the only one that will be available.
Water Stations 2 & 3 (6 miles & 9 miles)
At the next 2 water stations, you can collect a cup of water. These cups are fully compostable because they are made from plant-based resources!
New – Seaweed balls at 10 miles
The We Are Woking team will be offering seaweed balls at 10 miles. These water balls reduce waste and could be the future for all running events. Try it out and let us know your views.
Water Station 4 (11.5 miles)
The final water station is REFILL ONLY (no cups, no bottles). You will be able to come into the station and fill up your own bottle, hydration pack or cup.
To use this station, you will need to be carrying your own water container or one that was supplied at a previous water station. Water will also be available near the finish line before, after and during the event.
Owning Your Race Hydration
